Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. (BLS), a Delaware-based CPA firm, is proud to welcome Valerie C. Middlebrooks, CPA, back to the BLS family as a principal in the firm’s Tax & Small Business Department.
Valerie joined the firm in 2005 and then again in 2017 after working for a Top 100 firm in Bethesda, Maryland, and a local firm in Delaware. Prior to moving to the East Coast, Valerie spent eight years with a Midwest CPA firm and seven years working in the tax department for a law firm in Wisconsin immediately after graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in both accounting and marketing.
A tax generalist with a strong knowledge base in providing compliance and advisory services to her clients, Valerie works closely with the many experts within the firm to address her clients’ varied circumstances. Valerie’s experience includes working with large privately held companies, nonprofits, small businesses, high-net-worth families, and international businesses (and individuals). She also has extensive experience leading an engagement team that acted as a back office tax department for a global manufacturer. Her widespread background provides a wealth of insight and expertise for the many issues her clients may face.
Valerie is a council member of the American Institute of CPAs and a member of the Delaware Society of CPAs. She is also very involved with the Fund for Women.
