Dan joined Belfint, Lyons & Shuman in 1980 and was named a director in 1986. An expert in corporate and nonprofit taxation, Dan serves as treasurer for the firm and heads the firm's tax department. Dan specializes in helping individuals, businesses and investment holding companies address their tax planning needs. With his business clients, Dan often acts as their agent, when dealing with banks, bonding companies, pension administrators and federal taxing authorities. His clients have benefited from his commitment to providing them with highly personalized service and his willingness to "go the extra mile" to ensure that clients have the information and resources they need to make sound business decisions. Dan's professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA) and the Wilmington Tax Group. He has authored numerous articles and seminars for local businesses and nonprofit organizations, as well as for industry groups such as the Delaware Tax Institute. Within the community, Dan is a board member and treasurer for the Delmarva Council of Boy Scouts of America and is a past board member of the American Heart Association's Delaware Chapter. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Delaware. |
