Dan joined Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. in January 1980 and within six years achieved director status. Dan is an expert in corporate and nonprofit taxation and employee benefit plan compliance. He also advises clients on partnership and individual tax issues. Dan’s experience has led him to present on various tax topics at the Delaware Tax Institute, the Wilmington Tax Group, the National Tax Conference for IGAF Worldwide and Lorman Education seminar for Delaware Tax-Exempt Organizations, as well as on a variety of radio stations. Locally, his expertise has been called upon to present seminars on special tax and benefit plan issues to local business groups and bank trust departments.
Dan’s professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA) and the Wilmington Tax Group. Within the community, Dan is a member of various business-interest groups. He is a past board member of the American Heart Association and served as treasurer for the Delmarva Council of the Boy Scouts of America for many years where they honored him with the distinguished Rockefeller Award.
Dan holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University o f Delaware. He received his Certified Public Accountant certificate from the state of Delaware in 1982.
