James W. Whalen, Jr., joined Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. in 1996 as Vice President of Marketing. In this capacity, Jim interfaces with many corporate treasurers and tax specialists of Fortune 500 companies, as well as small to medium-sized regional companies.
With more than 25 years experience in the financial services industry, Jim has worked in the areas of situs management, corporate custody services, investment management, cash management, corporate trust services, employee benefit trusts and corporate tax planning. Prior to joining Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, he was responsible for marketing Delaware investment holding company services at a major local financial institution.
Jim is a member of several professional associations including the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists, the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives, the Association for Accounting Marketing and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Holding Company committee.
Jim holds a bachelors degree in economics from the State University of New York College at Potsdam . He earned his Certified Employee Benefit Specialist certification from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Within the community, Jim is involved with many local charitable organizations and fund raising events. He is currently on the Board of Directors Academy of Finance at Howard High School of Technology.
