BLS is seeking a Marketing & HR Coordinator, with a high degree of interest in becoming part of one of the largest public accounting firms in Delaware. Individuals with a fresh, energetic, technically-savvy approach to processes and support for marketing and HR administrative functions are encouraged to apply to a company that looks for talent and rewards effort at every staff level.

Sample Project Opportunities
  • Supporting marketing strategy through external, internal, and client communications
  • Updating and distributing electronic communications (e.g., blog posts, eNewsletters, etc.), including mailings for newsletters, seminars, notices, and client service information through our e-distribution system (BlueHornet)
  • Updating website (WordPress) and social media accounts
  • Updating content of marketing materials
  • Supporting public and media relations efforts, including media and press releases
  • Coordinating and following up on marketing events, assisting with niche meetings and related marketing tasks, and assisting with advertising placement and needs
  • Preparing presentation materials, sales letters, proposals, and sales packages
  • Assisting with the promotion of events, including coordination of details for seminars, lunches, speaking engagements, and trade shows
  • Managing internal contact database and marketing software tools and providing tracking and analytical reporting
  • Assisting with RFP response process, including preparation through distribution of proposals
  • Researching industry trends in our target markets
  • Assisting with college recruiting, including applicant tracking/reporting, coordinating onsite and offsite interviews, and preparing recruiting materials
  • Providing administrative assistance to HR on an as needed basis
What We Look For
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, human resources, or related field is preferred
  • Six months – three years of recent experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Professional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and e-media tools, including navigating the Internet, website (WordPress), social media platforms, and e-distribution systems
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and handle multiple, competing tasks and priorities with little direct supervision
  • Enthusiastic, with a strong ability to contribute to creative planning and an eagerness to get involved, learn new things, and conceptualize new ideas
  • Experience working with Adobe Create Suite, WordPress, social media platforms, and/or HR management systems a plus

BLS is seeking a professional with advanced technical skills in audit areas with a strong government, nonprofit, and/or privately held business entity emphasis, including preparation and review of work papers, financial statements, and reports for complex engagements and special assignments.

Sample Project Opportunities
  • Plan, execute, and supervise the full scope of complex audit, review, and accounting engagements for government, nonprofit, and/or privately held business entities, entities that receive government awards and other audit organizations performing Yellow Book audits
  • Act as a liaison between the client and Manager or Director
  • Prepare and review financial statements and required communications
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and offer solutions to resolve issues as they arise
  • Stay compliant with pronouncements of professional and other regulatory groups
  • Mentor new staff on assignments, while simultaneously performing efficiently on engagements
What We Look For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years public accounting experience in an audit or accounting environment with emphasis on government, nonprofit, and/or privately held business auditing
  • CPA certification
  • Ability to travel to same-day work at client locations
  • Working knowledge of audit compliance
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong supervisory experience and client relations skills
  • Working knowledge of ProSystems software, IDEA, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Microsoft Office, and other programs related to tax planning, depreciation, and accounting

BLS is seeking a professional with experienced technical skills in corporate accounting matters with an emphasis on Delaware Investment Holding Companies, including subsidiary set-up management, physical presence establishment and comprehensive accounting and tax planning services.

Sample Project Opportunities
  • Supervise and review all client work, including planning and controlling work assignments and ensuring adherence to established procedures, compliance regulations and client deadlines
  • Act as liaison between client and Firm management
  • Perform initial setup of new client account books and records and development of client contact for engagement teams
  • Review financial statements prepared for clients
  • Review annual renewal of client engagement letters and Delaware 1902(b) filings
  • Maintain communications with clients, financial institutions and law firms
  • Attend board of director meetings as necessary

  • Monitor receipts, pay incurred expenses and invoices, prepare wire transfers and maintain account balances for corporate bank accounts
  • Monitor and prepare invoices for royalties and receipt of interest, dividends and royalty payments
  • Maintain communications with clients, financial institutions and law firms
  • Reconcile accounts, calculate income/loss, summarize records and post entries to general ledger
  • Prepare trial balances with supporting financial statements, balance sheets and statements of operations
  • Prepare and file tax returns, including employment, Delaware franchise tax, Delaware 1902(b) and other federal and state returns, as needed
  • Prepare materials for board of director meetings and maintain correspondence, statements and other information in client files

What We Look For
  • Working towards a BA/BS or Masters degree in accounting or an accounting certificate
  • Will have 150 Credit Hours at graduation – CPA eligible

Begin your career with our Summer Internship Program. Not only will you gain experience, work with clients, and network with the BLS family, but you will also be considered for a Staff Accountant Position. Many of the members of the BLS family started their career journey with a BLS Summer Internship and have advanced throughout the firm! You could be next!

What to Expect
  • Duration – 8-week/40-hour schedule combining formal learning with real world experiences
  • Acquire familiarity with firm processes while learning advanced accounting software programs.
  • Develop and apply learned skills through a variety of activities in all departments of the firm, not just one department. It’s the rotational development concept that makes us different from the others.
  • Engage and learn to perform work assignments as a first-year staff member and an active part of the BLS team.
  • Contribute to real client work, not an internship of scanning.
  • Network with accomplished professionals in the public accounting field.
What We Look For
  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting or an accounting certificate
  • Two years or less from the 150 Credit Hour requirement
  • Striving towards the goal of working in Public Accounting and becoming a CPA

Looking to gain first-hand experience of what it is like to work for a mid-sized, regional firm but are too early in your college career for an internship? Our half-day Externship/Shadowing Experience is for you! During this program, you will have the chance to interact with Staff Accountants through Shareholders to better understand how public accounting firms help their clients succeed. Best of all, our Externs get to add this experience on their resume AND are automatically invited to interview for the Summer Internship Program, when eligible.
