BLS considers our college recruiting process an important part of our firm-wide recruiting and the long-term success of our firm. We listen and build relationships with our interns, professors, college career services departments, and the community to attract the best candidates.

BLS College Recruiting Timeline

  • On-Campus Meet the Firms and Career Fairs – Usually early September through mid-October
  • On-Campus Interviews – Usually late September
  • BLS In-House Interviews – Usually mid-October
  • Externship Recruiting – Usually end of February through March

About Our College Programs

Are you looking you looking to gain first-hand experience of what it is like to work for a mid-sized, regional firm but are too early in your college career for an internship? Our full-day Externship/Shadowing Experience, that occurs in August, is for you! During this program, you will have the chance to interact with Staff Accountants through Shareholders to better understand how public accounting firms help their clients succeed. Best of all, our Externs get to add this experience on their resume AND are automatically invited to interview for the Summer Internship Program, when eligible.

Begin your career with our Summer Internship Program. Not only will you gain experience, work with clients, and network with the BLS family, but you will also be considered for a Staff Accountant Position. Many of the members of the BLS family started their career journey with a BLS Summer Internship and have advanced throughout the firm! You could be next!

What to Expect
  • Duration – 8-week/40-hour schedule combining formal learning with real world experiences
  • Acquire familiarity with firm processes while learning advanced accounting software programs.
  • Develop and apply learned skills through a variety of activities in all departments of the firm, not just one department. It’s the rotational development concept that makes us different from the others.
  • Engage and learn to perform work assignments as a first-year staff member and an active part of the BLS team.
  • Contribute to real client work, not an internship of scanning.
  • Network with accomplished professionals in the public accounting field.
What We Look For
  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting or an accounting certificate
  • Two years or less from the 150 Credit Hour requirement
  • Striving towards the goal of working in Public Accounting and becoming a CPA

Do you know exactly which practice area you want to dedicate your career in public accounting – Tax, Audit, Consulting? How do you know if you have not had the experience, right? All Staff Accountants that join the BLS family go through our Rotational Development Program which gives exposure to all areas of our firm. Once you have gained this varied experience, THAT is when you can make an educated choice about the direction of your public accounting career

What We Look For
  • Working towards a BA/BS or Masters degree in accounting or an accounting certificate
  • Will have 150 Credit Hours at graduation – CPA eligible
  • Striving to become a CPA
