Tax Deadline for Individuals Extended to May 17

Published on

On March 17, the IRS announced that the federal income tax filing and payment deadline for individual 2020 returns has been extended to May 17, 2021. Learn more about the Individual Tax Day Extension.

Please keep in mind that the announcement is only for individual taxpayers and, as of today, the technical details surrounding this announcement have not been made.

The situation remains fluid and much is still unknown. BLS is requesting that you provide your tax documents and information needed to prepare returns as soon as possible. With so many new tax provisions for 2020’s filing season, the extra 30 days is a very limited window of time to address some very significant items that have been added to the tax code.

When the IRS issues more guidance, we will communicate additional deadline changes or provisions. Should you have any questions, please reach out to your BLS Team Member via our contact form.
