Audit & Assurance

“No one wants to go through an audit process – whether it’s one of our employee benefit plan clients or our nonprofit clients, there’s the same notion that it’s a necessary evil. Everyone in our group focuses on minimizing disruption to the client, reporting accuracy, and creating the best experience and outcome for our clients.”

– Jeffrey A. Elwell, CPA, Director

Audits don’t have to cause headaches and business disruptions. While the regulatory environment may have you inclined to tighten internal controls, we’re happy to say that it has had very little impact on audit and assurance processes at BLS. We’ve got a ‘just right’ approach and report structure that earned kudos from the Department of Labor upon review of our audit documentation and process checklists.

Whether an audit or review is for a regulatory requirement, a lending need or required as a part of shareholder ownership by-laws, we have processes in place to assist nonprofit organizations, employee benefit plans, privately held corporations and governmental agencies.  Don’t worry – we’re here to help.

    • Avoiding the Hardship of Correcting Hardship Distribution Violations

Administering hardship distributions correctly is important to prevent the hardship of completing a correction of an error in administration. Often, plan officials assume that their third party administrator is collecting all the information necessary for the approval and proper processing of a hardship, when that is not always the case.
