Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. (BLS), announces the retirement of Kamini Patel, CPA, Director and Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Corporate Services Practice Group, effective June 30, 2026. Kamini concludes an exceptional career spanning 45 years in the accounting profession, including nearly 32 years of dedicated service to BLS.
Kamini joined BLS on October 6, 1994, when the firm’s Corporate Services Practice Group was experiencing rapid growth. Working alongside former Directors Pete Winnington and Pat Genzel, she quickly established herself as a strategic leader by implementing standardized processes, strengthening operational efficiencies, and developing high-performing teams that supported the continued expansion of the practice. Among her many contributions, Kamini led the successful transition of the firm’s payroll services in-house and designed an innovative Microsoft Access database system that significantly increased efficiency while enabling the department to continue serving a growing client base without proportionally increasing staffing needs. Her commitment to process improvement and operational excellence helped lay the foundation for a long-term success of the Corporate Services Practice Group.
In October 2004, Kamini was admitted as a Director of the firm. Following Pete Winnington’s retirement in 2015, she assumed leadership of the Corporate Services Practice Group, serving as its Practice Group Leader until her retirement. Throughout her tenure, she earned the trust and respect of the firm’s leadership and built a culture grounded in consistency, accountability, collaboration, and exceptional client service.
“When I look back on my career, it’s not one single accomplishment that stands out, but rather the many meaningful experiences I’ve had along the way,” said Kamini. “Leading the Corporate Services Practice Group has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life. I am incredibly grateful for the confidence the firm’s directors placed in me and for the opportunity to work alongside such talented colleagues. One of my greatest joys has been recruiting mentoring, and watching so many team members grow into successful professionals and leaders. I also treasure the lasting relationships I’ve built with our clients and my BLS family.”
As she begins retirement, Kamini looks forward to spending more time with her family, especially traveling to India to visit loved ones, and exploring destinations around the world. She also plans to spend more time with her grandchildren, focus on healthy living, and enjoy cooking and discovering new recipes.
