Belfint, Lyons & Shuman's roots date back to 1923, when Charles I. Belfint founded a small accounting practice whose staff was committed to utilizing an interactive and personal approach to providing clients with superior accounting, tax and management consulting services. As the firm expanded its services and opened offices in other states, our professionals continued to recognize the importance of building and nurturing our long-term relationships with clients, business associates and community members. Since our clients often remain with the firm for many years, even many decades, we are able to guide them through the various stages of their business' development and their personal financial planning needs. In many cases, we have gone from helping clients set up their general ledger and internal control systems, to providing recommendations for strengthening their cash flow or obtaining financing for a new project, to ultimately advising them on succession planning issues or the sale of their business. Our dedication to quality service and quality control extends to our own practice. Our professionals are actively involved in industry and professional groups such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Delaware and Pennsylvania Societies of Certified Public Accountants, which keep us up to date on the industry trends and financial regulations impacting our clients. We are also members of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and IGAF Worldwide, which enables us to provide an array of services that meet our clients' changing global business needs.
